Thank you district 1!!

I can't thank you enough for your outpouring of support. Election day was Thursday, October 4. You have showed me that I was worthy of making the Run-off. (in order to win, I had to have 51% of the vote) I have a true desire to serve as your next City Council person. Just as I have worked hard as a school board member, listening to parents, advocating for students, and supporting our teachers, and principals; I will work harder for you on the City Council. I will put our community first, I will continue to develop partnerships with community organizations to make our district a great place to live, learn, and laugh. I will be responsive to my constituents.

I will work collaboratively with my fellow colleagues; always in a respectful manner. I will agree to disagree with integrity and understanding. I will ensure that I have an advisory council in place as not to be the sole decision maker of the district.

I encourage all constituents who reside in District 1 to shop in the district. This creates economic prosperity within our district.

I encourage community organizations to re-invent themselves; we have to ban together and be neighborly. Create a buddy system, phone bank, and/or an e-mail alert system to be shared with neighbors. Networking is key in the fight against crime. Support our Police Officers' by offering prayer for their families.

It is going to take the ENTIRE community to make this a reality.

Please tell everyone to vote early!! October 19-November 3. Election day is Thursday November 8

Thank you for your Support and Vote!

Advocate or Complain... you tell me??

The City of Memphis is a great place to live. When I first moved to Memphis, however, You could not convince me otherwise. It is not until I started becoming involved that I started taking pride in my city. I would complain about the crime, I would complain about the schools, I would complain about the neighborhoods. I was one of the many complainers that exist among us today. and at that moment.... I had an Ah-Ha moment.. That very moment, I chose to do something to empower others.

I started ADVOCATING.... And I have loved every moment of it... There are many styles of advocating... You don't have to be overly brass to be a good advocate.. In fact, to be effective... you really need to know whom are those in which you are advocating to? Who is your audience? do they hold your same views? ... what are the personality types sitting around the table? How do you best reach consensus for all? Should you compromise your position? Being a good advocate is getting your point across to all.. it's about making changes.. (POSITIVE CHANGES) It's about encouraging, convincing, and coaching others to accept your views.

Tell me... What is your definition of a good Advocate? and what kind of Advocate are you?

Are you someone who gets the job done regardless? Are you one who does not care whose toes you step on to get what you want? Is it someone who grandstands? Is it someone who delegates to others?

You tell me!!

When was your Ah-Ha moment? or are you still waiting for that moment to arrive?

Who has had the most Profound effect on your life?
